The very best time to visit Kerkini  and photograph Dalmatian pelicans starts from first days of January and ends beginning of March. During this time they show amazing breeding colours, spectacular plumage and remarkable breeding behaviour.  Since 2009 we have about 100 winter trips to Kerkini . We know where, when and how to organize pelican's photography for pros, amateurs and beginners.  During this trip with a bit of luck we will photograph also: Greater flamingo, Great White pelican, Pygmy cormorant and other birds. 


The Sites  Lake Kerkiny, Greece is the world's best place where you can photograph Dalmatian pelicans. You can see the pelicans on many spots at the lake, but only several places will give a chance for good approach and successful photography. The lake is a destination of wintering birds and to visit some other nearby spots for photography or just watching will be also an option. 

Daily Program The start is before sunrise and the finish is late - most often one hour after sunset. The hotel is just 10min drive from the best photo area and going there for food, refreshments, recharging and mid-day rest will be easy. Many different options and strategies will be possible from the shore and from a boat. 
Usually we have two hours boat trip in the morning and two hours on afternoon. In good conditions this practically means 4 hours nonstop intensive photography. If you are ambitious for many high quality pictures – bring many batteries and a lot of memory space!     
The Lake is surrounded by mountains and whole area has potential for landscape photography as well. 
Level of fitness   All places are accessible with car and only short distance walking is required. We use proper licensed and safe stabile boats . Anyway in case of wind and really bad weather ( happens  rare) we will work from the shore.

Equipment recommended On this trip you can bring and use all you cameras and lenses – from fish еye to the longest one, and all of them can be useful ! Of course some lenses are more versatile …like 16-35mm, 70-200mm, 100-400mm and similar. Like many other details , what to bring will be specified before your arrival. We will provide bean bags and mats useful for low level photography from the shore.
